What We BELIEVE

How we view God, Jesus, the Bible, man, and many significant aspects of our faith. Firmly rooted in Scripture, the beliefs of East Bay Church guide our decisions as a church.

EAST BAY CHURCH IS AFFILIATED WITH THE ASSEMBLIES OF GOD. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO.

GOD
He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three personalities, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. These Three are co-equal and are one God.

JESUS CHRIST
He is the only begotten Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

HOLY SPIRIT
He is co-equal with The Father and The Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He desires to empower us with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, which is available for all who follow Jesus. He provides Christians with the power for living, the understanding of spiritual truth, and the guidance to do what is right. As Christians, we seek to live daily under His control.

THE BIBLE
The Bible is God’s Word to humanity. Human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, wrote it. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

MANKIND
People are made in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by the attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.”

SALVATION
Salvation is God’s gift of grace to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved from the penalty of our sin. Eternal life begins the moment you receive Jesus Christ into your life by faith.

ETERNITY
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in fellowship with God is heaven. Heaven and Hell are literal places of eternal existence.

GIVING
As God commands, we practice giving for the support of Christ’s body,  and the church. As Christians, we recognize that generosity is a Biblical principle that we embrace.
MARRIAGE
God does have a standard by which behavior and sexual activity is measured and judged, approved or disapproved. God’s perfect plan for a man and a woman is found by returning to the beginning in Genesis. Biblical marriage is between one man and one woman. Marriage covenant is recognized by a licensed ceremony with a licensed minister, not Common Law marriage.
